Hyundai Unveils its Heritage Series Grandeur Restomod

Following its Pony Heritage Series, Hyundai has returned to unveil its second heritage Series electric restomod (restored and modified), the “Grandeur Heritage Series.” Turning its attention towards the 1986 Hyundai Grandeur, a rebadged take on the Mitsubishi Debonair, the update utilizes an electric powertrain and “retro-futurism” styling to reimagine the car’s shape and functionality.

The latest restomod from Hyundai maintains the original shape of the car adding modern “pixel” LED headlights and taillights, a clean chrome mesh grille, proud flat wheel covers and striking chrome trim. While the interior has been completely overhauled with a widescreen display with an integrated soundbar and portrait control panel that controls multimedia, driving functions and enhanced air conditioning. The soundbar works in unison with the 18-speaker sound system designed to express “acoustic theory similar to that of a concert hall.”

The upholstery found in the interior has been done with a mix of bright burgundy Alcantara and nappa leather accented by silver metal and gloss black elements. Hidden details include a watch storage slot, a throttle style gear selector, “infinity mirror” roof lights and a virtual piano feature developed with instrument brand Samick.

The Hyundai Grandeur Heritage Series concept unveiled at the Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang center in Seoul, South Korea will be on display later this month. Hyundai is also set to reveal the next entry in its heritage series, a retromod Galloper, the automotive company’s first SUV, in the near future.

In case you missed it, the AJ3 “Seoul” inspires the Jordan Brand x Helinox Chair One.
