Hyundai’s high-performance N division has just debuted the RN24, a “Rolling Lab” concept, at N Day 2024, showcasing the brand’s vision for the next generation of high-performance electric vehicles (EVs). This concept builds on Hyundai’s established IONIQ 5 N platform, pairing its dual-motor system with a World Rally Championship-inspired compact chassis designed to maximize agility and control.
The RN24 reflects Hyundai N’s philosophy of bringing motorsport-grade technology to the road, rooted in three core principles: “Corner Rascal,” “Racetrack Capability” and “Everyday Sportscar.” Unlike traditional EV concepts, the RN24 prioritizes a lightweight, compact design, enhanced by a 640 hp electronics system sourced from the IONIQ 5 N but fitted into a shortened wheelbase comparable to the B-segment Hyundai i20 N Rally1 Hybrid.
Equipped with a rally-inspired suspension and advanced drive control systems, RN24 allows drivers to adjust performance features directly from the steering wheel — features similar to Hyundai’s rally models. The compact chassis is stabilized by an exposed roll cage and 3D-printed structural reinforcements, maintaining lightweight durability while enhancing stability. Additionally, the car’s design incorporates a unique sound system, utilizing side speakers and a rear fender that acts as a soundbox, creating a soundtrack that matches its performance.
At the time of writing, Hyundai has not shared any extensive plans for the RN24 but we expect to see more of it soon.
