HYPETALKS Will Discuss Equality in the Music Industry With Rubi Rose, Lily Mercer and More

HYPEBEAST and HYPEBAE are rounding out Women’s History Month with a HYPETALKS panel discussion titled “The Struggles and Triumphs of Women in Music” on Monday, March 28 at 8 p.m. ET.

Moderated by Sophie Caraan and Pauline de Leon, Editors at HYPEBEAST and HYPEBAE respectively, the talk will focus on promoting equality, overcoming gender barriers and achieving success as a woman working across various parts of the music industry.

Nina Lee is the Director of Communications at The Oriel Company, a communications firm whose clients include GRAMMY nominees and winners like Syd of The Internet, Phoebe Bridgers, The Roots and more. Prior to moving to The Oriel, Nina served as the Director of Publicity for Shore Fire Media.

Lily Mercer is the founder of Viper Magazine, a DJ, host of The Lily Mercer Show on NTS, and was one of the first radio hosts to introduce the music of then-rising artists like 6LACK, SZA, Kali Uchis and Anderson .Paak to U.K. airwaves.

Hannah Lux Davis is the woman behind some of your favorite music videos, including Doja Cat‘s “Say So,” Ariana Grande‘s “Into You” and Nicki Minaj‘s “Beez In the Trap” with 2 Chainz. She is a 16-time MTV Video Music Award nominee, and has won Best Hip-Hop Video, Artist to Watch, and a Country Music Association Award for Video of the Year.

Rubi Rose is a rapper, songwriter and model who first gained international attention after starring in the music video for Migos‘ “Bad and Boujee” in 2016. Three years later, she released her first song, “Big Mouth,” and went on drop her fist official mixtape For the Streets and appear in Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion‘s “WAP” visual. She was also inducted in XXL’s 2021 Freshman Class.

Shakari “TRAKGIRL” Boles is a songwriter, entrepreneur and producer whose work is dedicated to spotlighting women in a male-dominated industry. Her production and songwriting work can be found on the tracks of Belly, Jhené Aiko and Vic Mensa. Her pursuit for equality is evident in her PAY US TODAY venture, which champions fair pay for producers, and The 7% Series, a platform that aims to highlight and create a safe space for women in music.
