Huenit, a Seoul-based technology company, has designed a modular robotic arm with AI vision that’s capable of 3D printing, calligraphy and laser cutting and engraving. After raising $700,000 USD in funds for the project in just a month, prototypes of the bot have been assembled, showcasing all of its impressive functions.
The bot comes with an AI camera that can capture 30 frames per second, equipping it to handle a variety of cutting-edge AI tasks including face recognition, image classification, object detection, line tracking, color recognition and human segmentation. It has a touchscreen display, speaker and microphone that offers voice recognition.
For those who need a helping hand, the robot is equipped to use a high-power laser to cut and engrave paper, wood, leather, anodized aluminum and other materials. And at home or in the office, the bot can simply work with a pen to draw and write.
As for its strength, the arm of the bot can lift 26.5oz (750g) with a reach of 15.4 inches (390mm). It’s extremely precise in its aim with an accuracy of around 0.002 inches (0.05mm).
“When creating Huenit we aimed at developing the most versatile robotic arm for both professional and personal use,” Huenit co-founder and CEO Sangmin Lee said. “We are excited to see how Huenit gradually turned into the one tool to make all the crazy ideas of its users come into reality.”
Through its creator module, which is accessible right under the display, users can switch modes and opt to program the bot to do virtually anything, Huenit says. The module comes with ports and power outputs for any plug-ins that users may need to aid in this process.
