Huawei Launches Water Droplet-Shaped Freebuds 5

Chinese telecom company Huawei has released its Huawei FreeBuds 5, showcasing a new curvaceous design and upgraded features.

The sleek and natural aesthetic of the budless in-ears takes inspiration from water droplets with a rounded stem that grows wider toward the bottom. In addition to its eye-catching visual design, the earbuds are the first in-ear type to feature triple microphones, allowing them to pick up and block out ambient noise and noise inside the ear canal. Furthermore, the Adaptive Ear Matching (AEM) technology accurately detects the fit of the ear canal and applies noise-canceling accordingly.

The newly designed 11mm magnet dynamic driver unit has two ring-shaped magnets. The center of the magnet ring mechanism creates a pathway for airflow, which enables the earbuds to deliver powerful low-frequency sounds 30% more sensitive at low frequencies than the Huawei FreeBuds 4. The battery performance has also improved significantly compared to the previous model, with up to 5 hours of continuous playback on a single charge and up to 30 hours when combined with the matte charging case. Additionally, the earbuds support ultra-fast charging, allowing for about 2 hours of continuous playback with just 5 minutes of charging in the case. The earbuds are said to have been tested on over 10,000 ear shapes to ensure a universally comfortable fit, and they also have an IP54 dust and water resistance rating, making them suitable for use in the rain and during a workout.

Available in “Silver Frost,” “Ceramic White,” and “Coral Orange,” the Huawei FreeBuds 5 are currently selling on Huawei’s official online store and other retailers for ¥21,800 JPY (approximately $155 USD).
