‘House of the Dragon’ Star Mily Alcock Is DC’s New ‘Supergirl’

'House of the Dragon' Star Mily Alcock Is DC's New 'Supergirl'

House of the Dragon‘s young Rhaenyra Targaryen star Milly Alcock is DC Studios‘ new Woman of Steel. Under the DC Universe lead by James Gunn and Peter Safran, Alcock is set to star in the upcoming feature film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which is based on the Tom King and Bilquis Evely comic of the same name.

So far, Ana Nogueira has been hired to pen the screenplay but no director has been attached. Alcock confirmed to her fans her casting on Instagram but the news comes ahead of the shooting for Superman: Legacy. Alcock joins good company in alums who have played the iconic Supergirl character. Melissa Benoist starred on the CW series and Sasha Calle played the character in the 2023 feature film The Flash. Alcock’s casting goes in line with Gunn’s new vision and fresh start for the new DCU.

Being that the film will follow the 2022 comic book, the Supergirl character does not escape the planet of Krypton as an infant before it explodes, but rather grows up witnessing her home planet’s destruction until she is 14 before she arrives on Earth. Gunn explained previously in 2023 when he first presented the initial 10 titles under the new DCU, “She’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing,” signalling a new path for the superhero.
