Hiroshi Fujiwara‘s fragment design and Leica are joining forces for two limited-edition takes on the Leica M10 Monochrom and Leica Q2 Monochrom cameras. The Leica M10 Monochrom is a full-frame rangefinder camera highlighted by a quiet shutter and 40-megapixel high-definition image sensor that omits color filters for raw and sharp black and white images. The Leica Q2 Monochrom is the world’s first full-frame compact digital camera dedicated to monochrome photography. Found in a heavy-duty casing that boasts both water and dust resistance, the camera features a Summilux 28 fixed lens, autofocus, and a crisp OLED viewfinder.
Both cameras arrive in a matte-black finish with special cowhide leather touches. The top covers are engraved with white “FRAGMENT<BW, TOKYO<JAPAN” text, and the fragment design thunderbolt logo is subtly imprinted on the lower grip section. Bright red Leica logos are noticeably excluded for a minimal appearance.
Each camera will be limited to 20 units and can be purchased later in May at Leica GINZA SIX for its 5th-anniversary celebrations. The “fragment edition” Leica M10 Monochrom and Q2 Monochrom are priced at ¥1,375,000 and ¥990,000 JPY (approximately $10,715 and $7,715 USD) respectively.
