After introducing the product on designer Chet Lo‘s Spring/Summer 2023 runway during London Fashion Week, Nothing has unveiled the full specifications for its third product offering: the Ear (stick).
The brand is calling the device its “most advanced audio experience to date.” Arriving in a compact, cylindrical case inspired by cosmetic silhouettes, the half-in-ear design features up to 29 hours of playtime and a 12.6-mm custom driver. At that size, the driver is large enough to produce rich audio at the highest and lowest frequencies, but still small enough to fit comfortably in the ear canal.
With Bass Lock Technology, the Ear (stick) utilizes smart software to measure the size of its user’s ear canal to determine the amount of bass lost during wear. From there, the technology tunes the equalizer curve to the ideal level for each unique user. Additionally, the device is equipped with the next generation of Nothing’s Clear Voice Technology, which filters loud background noises through three high-definition mics under a unified algorithm.
The Ear (stick) operates with a redesigned antenna that lands further from the face, in an effort to reduce signal blockage. Press controls are located on both earbuds, letting users play, pause and skip tracks, activate voice assistance and change volume directly on the device. With Nothing’s Phone (1), users can seamlessly customize the earbuds’ gestures and EQ settings with Quick Settings. For iOS and Android users, those features are available through the new Nothing X app.
The Ear (stick) will be available to purchase for $99 USD beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET on November 4 at select retailers and on the brand’s website. Take a look at the device in the gallery above.
