Last month, it was revealed that Jack Antonoff would be producing the soundtrack for Apple TV’s historical drama, The New Look. Set in the aftermath of World War II, the show will star rival fashion designers – Ben Mendelsohn plays Christian Dior, while Juliette Binoche portrays Coco Chanel – as they angle to become the top fashion house in Paris.
As for the soundtrack, Antonoff has assembled a star-studded roster of artists, such as Lana Del Rey, Perfume Genius, Matty Healy, Beabadoobee and more. All of the songs would be covers of tracks true to the time period in which the drama is set.
Florence and the Machine has now released the first single off of The New Look soundtrack: a cover of “(There’ll Be Bluebirds Over) The White Cliffs of Dover.” The song was composed by Walter Kent with lyrics written by Nat Burton in 1941. The following year, British singer Vera Lynn made it famous with her rendition, performed to the country’s troops.
