SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac County Health Department, the Wisconsin Institute for Healthy Aging (WIHA), and the Fond du Lac Family YMCA are offering a six-week Healthy Living with Diabetes program.

Healthy Living with Diabetes is an evidence-based program for adults of all ages who have type 1 or 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes, or live with someone who does. In just six weeks, participants will learn to take charge of their health and get back to doing the things that matter to them.

Participants will build confidence in their ability to manage their condition. They will get information and advice for:

  • Healthy eating and nutrition: food label reading and meal planning
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Partnering with your health care provider
  • Short-term goal setting
  • Exercise for fitness and fun
  • Feedback and problem-solving
  • Stress and depression management
  • Communicating effectively with friends, family and your medical team

Sessions are scheduled from Wednesdays, October 11 to November 15 from 9 – 11 am, and will run every Wednesday.

SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital is hosting the sessions at 430 E. Division Street in Fond du Lac. To register, call 920-906-5547.

The classes are free to attend; a $10 suggested donation for workbook. For the duration of the class, participants will get a free YMCA membership.
