SOUTHWEST FLORIDA — May is Mental Health Awareness and Children’s Mental Health Awareness Month.

This morning, we were joined by Laura Guarino, a licensed clinician and certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor at SalusCare, Getting us More about what raising awareness can do to promote mental health for people of all ages.

It’s important to remember that professionals are available to help, and it does not make anyone less of a person to ask for guidance.

Nearly half of the adults and children living with mental health conditions in the United States go without treatment.

Research shows that most people who receive mental and behavioral health counseling experience symptom relief and are better able to function in their lives. About 75 percent of people who enter counseling show some benefit from it.
