Las Vegas (KSNV) — The Big Game is right around the corner and officials at Harry Reid International Airport are providing travelers with tips on what to expect when moving across the airport.
A ‘know before you go’ guide was released on Friday as San Francisco and Kansas City fans begin to come into the valley ahead of the February 11th game.
Arriving in Las Vegas: February 8-10
High volumes of fans are expected to arrive in the days leading up to the game. Planning ahead can help save time and get visitors started on their Las Vegas weekend.
- Many resorts will have check-in options in baggage claim, allowing their customers to avoid lines at their destination. Check with your hotel to see if they are offering this service.
- During peak periods, rideshares and taxis will be in high demand.
- The Airport Rent-A-Car Center is a short shuttle ride from the terminals, but reservations for the cars should be made in advance
Leaving Las Vegas: February 11-13
The day after the Super Bowl will see a high volume of passengers departing LAS. The airport is providing the following travel tips for a smoother departing experience.
4-3-2-1: The Winning Game Plan
- 4 Hours Before Departure: Start planning your trip to the airport, look at traffic conditions and average wait times for rideshares. Return your rental car.
- 3 Hours Before Departure: Arrive at the airport! Check your bags with your airline.
- 2 Hours Before Departure: Get in line at the security checkpoint.
- 1 Hour Before Departure: Be at the gate, ready to board.
In time for the big event, LAS has unveiled a remote bag drop and check-in option. Located at the Airport Rent-A-Car Center and the Terminal 3 Departures curb, passengers of select domestic airlines can check their luggage, skip the ticket counter, and head directly to the security checkpoint. Bags must be checked in at least 90 minutes prior to the flight’s scheduled departure time. There is no charge for the service, however, baggage fees assessed by the airlines still apply.
Hours of Operation:
- Airport Rent-A-Car Center: 4 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
- Terminal 3 Departures: 4 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Be Checkpoint Ready
If traveling through the airport with a Super Bowl program, please remember that they must be placed in a carry-on.
