HBO Max has shared the official trailer for the upcoming Harry Potter reunion special, titled Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.
First announced last month, “the retrospective special invites fans on a magical first-person journey through one of the most beloved film franchises of all time as it reunites Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson and other esteemed cast members and filmmakers across all eight Harry Potter films for the first time to celebrate the anniversary of the franchise’s first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” according to HBO Max.
The trailer sees the cast reminiscing about the popular films and taking part in festivities in the famed Great Hall, all of which was filmed at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London. “It feels like no time has passed — and loads of time has passed,” Watson says.
“When things get really dark, and times are really hard, there’s something about Harry Potter that makes life richer,” she adds, while the trio catch up in the Gryffindor common room.
In addition to Radcliffe, Grint and Watson, the reunion will feature Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid), Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley), Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange), Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort), Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy), Gary Oldman (Sirius Black) and Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), among several others.
Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will premiere on HBO Max on January 1, 2022. The reunion will then air on TBS and Cartoon Network in spring 2022.
