‘Halloween Ends’ Tops Domestic Box Office With $41.25 Million USD During Opening Weekend

Halloween Ends reigns at the domestic box office as it earned $41.25 million USD from its opening weekend.

The Jamie Lee Curtis-starring horror film collected the total earnings from 3,901 North American theaters and although it fell below the $50 million USD to $55 million USD estimates, the opening numbers still prove to be impressive as it also debuted on Peacock and became its most-watched series/ film of all time over two days. Halloween Ends is the first film since Jordan Peele’s NOPE in July to debut with more than $40 million USD and was competing with Paramount’s Smile.

“Horror films have been performing extremely well at the box office,” David A. Gross of Franchise Entertainment Research said. “Young audiences like seeing these movies at a theater,” he added, “When that kind of success is possible, the greatest value is created by an exclusive theatrical release first, followed by streaming.”

Halloween Ends also earned an addition $17.17 million USD from 77 international markets to increase its global earnings to $58.42 million USD. “It’s great to see Blumhouse once again dominate this space,” shared Jim Orr, Universal’s president of domestic distribution. “Jamie Lee Curtis is a force of nature and audiences absolutely love her.”

Elsewhere in entertainment, Creed III has received a new release date and posters.
