GWAR to screen new documentary This Is GWAR with Q&A conducted by Kevin Smith

GWAR have announced a screening of their documentary, This Is GWAR, featuring a Q&A hosted by filmmaker Kevin Smith. The special screening is set for August 30th at Smith’s own Smodcastle Cinemas in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey.

In addition to the screening and the Q&A, attendees can upgrade their ticket to participate in a photo op with Kevin and an armor-clad GWAR.

“As a relic of the ’90s, I’m happy to help celebrate these bloody legends who’ve been enthralling audiences since the ’80s!” enthused Smith in a press release. “GWAR has not only stayed true to their gruesome roots all this time, they’ve also carved out their place in industry history.”

GWAR’s The Berserker Blöthar added: “You ridiculous humans could learn a few things from Kevin Smith. If you’ve seen any of his movies, you probably already have. He wrote the 37 dicks scene (genius), he cast Alanis Morissette as God, he’s the King of Jorts, and he is GWAR approved. We are stoked to get stoned and hang out at his theater drinking watered-down soda and answering the questions of our pimply-faced legion of fans.”

Regular tickets for the screening and Q&A are going for $25, while the special photo op ticket costs $100 (including the screening and Q&A), both available via the Smodcastle Cinemas website.

GWAR’s documentary This Is GWAR premiered in 2021. Following the legendary shock-metal band from its inception, the documentary tells the story of the interplanetary scumdogs — following late band mastermind Dave Brockie up through its modern incarnation, fronted by the aforementioned Blöthar the Berserker.

Prior to the upcoming screening with Kevin Smith, GWAR will be celebrating their 40th anniversary with a run of US headlining shows from May through June. Get tickets here, and also be sure to check out the band’s own Bud of Gods line of CBD products.
