Gunna has dropped his first new song since being released from prison, “bread & butter.” On the track, the YSL rapper addresses his incarceration and legal battle.
Last May, the rapper, along with Young Thug, were among 28 people arrested and charged in a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) indictment that spanned over 50 various counts.
His trial was initially slated for 2023 but the rapper ultimately pled guilty to a single charge of racketeering and was released from jail on probation. Young Thug, meanwhile, currently remains incarcerated and is awaiting trial.
“F*ck I paid the lawyers all those mills for? / Just so I won’t have to say a word to dodge a railroad,” Gunna raps in the opening of the second verse.
Later he adds, “Never gave no statement or agree to take no stand on ‘em… Lawyers and the DA did some sneaky shit, I fell for it.”
