Goose share surprise EP Autumn Crossing featuring studio versions of live favorites: Stream

Goose have released a surprise EP entitled Autumn Crossing. Spanning three songs, the project features newly recorded studio versions of some fan favorites from the jam band’s live show. Stream it below via Apple Music or Spotify.

The first two tracks on the EP, “Travelers I” and “Travelers II,” have appeared on Goose setlists since 2020. The third track, “Elmeg the Wise,” was first performed by Goose in 2016 and was included on their 2023 album, Live at Radio Music City Hall. All three songs demonstrate the band’s dynamic range, with intimate, acoustic moments building up into full-fledged soundscapes colored by swirling guitars, massive cymbal crashes, and blistering solos.

Autumn Crossing also arrives with a music video spanning the EP’s entire 17-minute runtime. With shots of nature and moments of psychedelic imagery matching the music’s intensity, the video captures the songs’ energy in a beautifully tasteful fashion. Watch the video below.

In a statement, Goose’s Rick Mitarotonda explained that the songs all originated in a time before the band was formed, and each holds a special place in his heart. “This is a meaningful one for me,” he said. “It’s among a collection of material I wrote in the years prior to Goose forming. This band is interesting to me in that way, it draws from many different times and places, and there’s a particular freedom to that. This one was a special time and place for me personally.”

In addition to being available across all major DSPs, Autumn Crossing will also be arriving on limited edition, 180g etched vinyl. The package will be hand-numbered, and include a four-page lyric booklet and artwork etched into the record by Jonathan Lovering. Pre-orders are ongoing.

Meanwhile, Goose’s 2023 tour is ongoing, and will stretch into December, with the band hitting cities in North America and Europe. They’ll also make a few festival appearances, like at Eddie Vedder’s Ohana Fest in Dana Point, California, later this month.
