Godzilla and King Kong Are Coming to ‘Call of Duty: Warzone’

Godzilla and King Kong Are Coming to ‘Call of Duty: Warzone’

In the latest gaming crossover, Activision Blizzard has announced that Godzilla and King Kong will appear in Call of Duty: Warzone, with a new event dubbed Operation Monarch on May 11. Specifically, the crossover is with Godzilla vs. Kong, Adam Wingard’s 2021 sci-fi action movie that saw the two beasts go head-to-head.

Though it’s unclear how Kong and Godzilla will be integrated into the game, Call of Duty notes in a blog post that the so-called Titans of the Monsterverse will “lay siege to Caldera later in the season” with Operation Monarch. The trailer sees the two fictional characters fight against each other, which appears to suggest that their gaming integration will reflect the storyline of the film, rather than a simple feature in free-for-all gameplay.

“The MONSTER OF ALL BATTLES is coming,” Call of Duty teased on Twitter.

Operation Monarch is only one component of Warzone‘s Season 3: Classified Arms, which also includes new points of interest, a new perk, another gulag map and the revival of Iron Trials, among other features.

The Godzilla vs. Kong event will launch at 9 a.m. PT on May 11. Watch the teaser above.

Elsewhere in gaming, the Pokémon Company is acquiring the trading card manufacturer Millennium Print Group.
