The Mark Johnston yard have a top record in this race – winning the spoils four times since 2013, including last year too.

This 3 year-old comes into the race in good order too after a win at Carlisle earlier this month and that also came off a 303-day break so will strip much fitter for it.

He seemed to have a bit up his sleeve that day too, so the longer trip here (up a furlong) and 6lb rise in the handicap look to be worth chancing. While he’s also up in grade here, but as a result has just 8-7 to carry.

Each-Way Betting Explained

An each-way bet is split into two parts

A win bet
A place bet

Therefore, if you are placing an each-way bet on a horse race your total stake will be split equally into two bets – half your stake will be wagered on the horse to win and the other half on the horse to be placed.

Winning a horse race is fairly self-explanatory, but the ‘place’ part means the horse will need to finish either 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th (this depends on the type of race and how many runners are in it) – you can see the industry standard each-way place terms here

5 – 7 runners – 1/4 Odds – 1st & 2nd place only
