Global Citizen and pgLang Announce ‘Move Afrika’ Music Festival in Rwanda, Headlined by Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar’s pgLang will be teaming up with Global Citizen for Move Afrika, a touring music festival dedicated to bringing international artists to the continent of Africa.

The “long-term, large scale” effort will kick off with its inaugural event this December. Move Afrika will be leaving its mark on Rwanda with a show at the BK Arena in Kigali on December 6.

Lamar will be headlining the event, titled Move Afrika: Rwanda, but his involvement with the festival spans far beyond that. For the next five years, until 2028, Lamar will serve as the curator of Move Afrika events throughout the continent.

Move Afrika has also secured a partnership with the Rwanda Development Board in Kigali that ensures the event will take place there for the next five years. By 2025, organizers want to expand Move Afrika to include five countries.

As part of Global Citizen’s commitment to advocacy, the festival will be paired with a campaign that calls on global leaders and highlights key issues such as the need for more funding for health, food insecurity, the climate crisis and opportunities for women and girls.

More performers for Move Afrika: Rwanda will be announced in the coming weeks. Those interested in attending can enter to win tickets online.

In other music news, Kid Cudi reunited with Travis Scott and Pharrell for “At The Party.”
