Bass music duo GLD have teamed up with hardstyle producer GEO for “Do It Like This,” a raucous rave tune that arrived yesterday on New Noise, an imprint under the umbrella of Steve Aoki‘s Dim Mak Records.
PSA: this single is not for the faint of heart.
With its hyper-house backbone and laser-laden psytrance influences, “Do It Like This” is downright relentless. At a blistering 172 BPM, the single is a whirling centrifuge of vicious bass elements and kinetic sound design, both of which belong under the cavernous night sky of a bass music festival. GLD and GEO do a fine job with the break here, utilizing eerie arpeggios and marching snare patterns, which build and eventually culminate in a merciless second drop.
However, the triad of talent go in a different direction for the equally rip-roaring second drop of “Do It Like This,” syncopating the drums into a breaks arrangement for a frenetic drum & bass feel. Once it subsides, the ebb and flow of the track is again at the forefront, as it breaks and builds again before closing with a filthy trap drop reminiscent of GLD’s thunderous catalog of bass music.
