Luxury automaker Genesis is looking towards an electrified future, and in light of this, it has just unveiled the Genesis X Speedium Coupe concept.
The new concept is a “freestyle” design based on the marque’s other concept, the Genesis X, which was unveiled late last month. Here, Genesis follows the two-door GT design language but elevates it to become sportier while also showcasing what prospective owners can expect from Genesis’ next wave of electric vehicles.
Genesis designed the X Speedium Coupe with an hourglass figure in mind, giving the model curvaceous lines and muscular definitions to enhance its sporting aesthetic. Its name, “Speedium,” is inspired by the brand’s “passion for motorsports felt by Genesis designers at the Korean racetrack,” yet again instilling a performance-centric nature into the ethos of this car, while the coupe platform enhances this further.
Altogether, it’s a promising vision for Genesis’ electric future. Two lines carve deep into the front end and wrap around to the fenders to make for a wide stance, simultaneously referencing the brand’s “Crest” grille design, while the “Parabolic Line” extending from the front to the rear of the car gives the X Speedium Coupe a shooting brake attitude, itself an approach that’s steeped in luxury performance history.
“We are giving each design element space to breathe,” said Donckerwolke. “It’s not about making the design elements compete with each other, but about orchestrating the elements so that they complement and respect one another.”
