Genesis Unveils Two Futuristic Concept Models

Genesis has introduced two new concept vehicles, one with luxury in mind and the other with high performance — respectively “Neolun” and “GV60 Magma.” The unveiling, which took part at Genesis House New York, marks a significant moment in the automaker’s journey, showcasing a blend of innovative design, advanced technology and a commitment to performance.

The Neolun Concept, Genesis’ first full-size electric SUV, combines the warmth of traditional Korean hospitality with futuristic innovation, featuring B-pillarless coach doors and a radiant heating system inspired by Korea’s traditional “ondol.” Genesis Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke highlighted the inspiration behind the Neolun Concept’s design, emphasizing its connection to Korea’s iconic moon-shaped porcelain jars and the pursuit of timeless design and craftsmanship. The vehicle’s exterior and interior blend seamlessly, offering passengers a spacious cabin enriched with luxurious materials like cashmere and naturally dyed leather, alongside an advanced sound system.

On the performance front, the GV60 Magma Concept signals Genesis’ ambitious entry into high-performance territory. The vehicle, part of the wider Genesis Magma program, is aimed at redefining the boundaries of performance and luxury. The GV60 Magma Concept builds on the existing GV60 model, featuring enhanced battery and motor technology, a dynamic stance thanks to its widened and lowered body, as well as a luxurious interior.

The Genesis Magma program, with contributions from racing legend Jacky Ickx, underlines the brand’s dedication to developing high-performance models across its lineup. Ickx, appointed Genesis Brand Partner, expressed his admiration for Genesis’ elegance and design aesthetics, looking forward to contributing his racing expertise to the Magma program.

The unveiling also provided a glimpse into the future of Genesis’ high-performance endeavors, displaying the GV80 Coupe Concept, G80 Magma Special and X Gran Berlinetta Concept alongside the GV60 Magma Concept. Each model represents Genesis’ commitment to pushing the boundaries of performance, luxury and design. At the time of writing, no official release date for the concepts has been announced, however, these vehicles and more are set to be showcased during the 2024 New York International Auto Show, for those who would like to see them in person.
