Gen Z’s biggest star, Rema, continues to soar with the success of his latest single “Soundgasm“.
Aside from the good music, Rema has one of the most solid record labels and management teams behind him. These factors combined make him Gen Z’s biggest star and his personality and brand have been made to fit and continue to appeal to that generation.
He kicked off this year with the release of “Bounce” as it was a very catchy song produced by Don Jazzy, the best of all time this country has produced. It easily found its way to the hearts of music lovers but I was not totally convinced about the quality of the song.
The Naija Lamba sound is not known to have deep and sensible lyrics, we are listening for the vibes. Once it makes us dance it gets a pass mark from the majority of music listeners but I felt the lyrics of the song were even below the bare minimum. Eventually, it resonated with me and I embraced the song. The production of the song is too spectacular to sleep on because of its shallow lyrics.
Rema also has multiple international collaborations in his bag, the latest of the pack is on “Dimension” with Jae5 and Skepta where he delivered an incredible bridge and chorus. His performance on that track is nothing less than a 10/10.
His performance as a guest artist on label mate Crayon‘s “Too Correct“ also saw him deliver a fine performance on the chorus.
I once made a joke that Rema can’t have a dry spell, he’s always going to have a hit song every three to four months.
“Soundgasm” his second single of the year also hit the top spot in Apple music’s daily top Naija 100, a chart that has become the unofficial chart for most artists. Also with the recent release of the song’s music video, it will help its staying power and it is expected to gather more momentum.
Rema doesn’t miss, it’s always another banger!
