‘Game of Thrones’ Prequel ‘House of the Dragon’ Receives New Teaser Trailer

‘Game of Thrones’ Prequel ‘House of the Dragon’ Receives New Teaser Trailer

HBO Max has dropped off a new teaser for its upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon.

The show, which is based on George R.R. Martin‘s novel Fire and Blood, is set 200 years prior to the events of the original Game of Thrones series. As the name suggests, the series will follow the decline of the House of Targaryen and the start of the Targaryen civil war.

The visual sees Paddy Considine star as King Viserys I Targaryen and Matt Smith play his younger brother, Prince Daemon Targaryen. Elsewhere in the Targaryen family, Emma D’Arcy appears as Princess Rhaenyra and Eve Best portrays Princess Rhaenys Velaryon, who is King Viserys’ cousin.

Martin released his aforementioned novel in late 2018 before co-creating House of the Dragon with Ryan J. Condal. The first season of the show, which received a straight-to-series order in October 2019, will include 10 episodes.

Earlier this year, Martin expressed his excitement for the series in a blog post, writing, “Exciting news out of London — I am informed that shooting has WRAPPED for the first season of HOUSE OF THE DRAGON.” He then revealed that he had watched rough cuts of the episodes and confirmed that he is “loving them.”

House of the Dragon will premiere on HBO Max on August 21. Watch the new teaser above.

In more entertainment news, Netflix has dropped first-look images for Money Heist Korea — Joint Economic Area.
