The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is celebrating Future‘s milestone of selling 95 million certified units.
The trade organization honored the artist with a plaque to commemorate the event, with RIAA COO Michele Ballantyne presenting it to Future at Soho House Miami Beach. “We’re thrilled to celebrate that Future now has 95 million RIAA certified units spanning 9 albums and 68 separate singles!” Ballantyne said. “He’s in an elite group—very few artists have achieved this level of success in the history of our nearly 65 year old program. Congratulations to Future and his incredible Epic Records and Freebandz teams!”
Epic Records executives, including CEO Sylvia Rhone, EVP and head of A&R Ezekiel Lewis and EVP and GM Rick Sackheim were also at Soho House Miami Beach for the celebration.
Earlier this year, Future’s I NEVER LIKED YOU made him only the fifth artist to occupy the No. 1 spot on both the Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100 charts. The album went gold in just a month and gave Future biggest debut of his career so far as it opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 221,512 units in its first week. It also briefly held the record for the biggest debut for a 2022 album.
Elsewhere in music, Kendrick Lamar responded to the viral video of the security guard crying during his performance of “LOVE.”
