That baby bump in her March 4-dated music video gave fans all the feels, but the real kicker is why she chose to announce her pregnancy with this single and video.
“Honestly, I was getting way too fat to hide it, so I was like, ‘Well, I think this song would be a great reveal! Let’s start there,'” she revealed to SiriusXM Hits 1 in her first interview following the major news. “And that’s how I communicate things — I communicate through music.”

Her explanation that it’s not a food baby
For her first performance of “Never Worn White,” Perry went down under and shimmered in her coral gown in Australia while appearing on the local TV show The Project on March 10. Before she took the stage with a pianist and string quartet, she told the panel of TV hosts that this was indeed the real deal.
“I’m definitely in it; there’s no hiding it and no passing it off as, like, you know, just a breakfast burrito,” she said during the interview. “I’ve always been a very curvy girl and I love to eat, so there had been rumors in the past that people had thought that I was pregnant… and now, they’re right! They’re more than right, yes. These are not cookies in my belly.”

It’s a girl! According to the baby pink frosting smeared across Bloom’s face from Perry’s April 4-dated Instagram post, the couple announced they were having a daughter together.

Perry jumped on Instagram live with super pop producer/songwriter Benny Blanco on April 23 to talk about what exactly she’s chowing down while cooking her bun in the oven. From pickles to avocado toast, she’s only fueling the fire by adding a few dashes of hot sauce.
“During this time there’s lots of cravings but lots of things to consider when going to the grocery store — but trust and believe I have stocked up on pickles,” she divulged her pregnancy diet to Blanco. “My number one craving is avocado toast with Tabasco. I’ve never been into spicy foods in my life but light my mouth up right now!”

She’s never worn white, but she’s absolutely worn an entire wardrobe of funky costumes these past few months. Perry has shown off her baby bump and bushy tail with her festive Easter onesie, pumped out some good ole’ clean jokes with her hand sanitizer outfit while taping American Idol, and celebrated a certain Disney mother for a special themed Idol episode.

A popstar for a mother and an actor for a father, Perry and Bloom’s daughter already started rebelling like the rockstar of her family when the singer showed off not her baby’s hummingbird heartbeat but her middle finger waving in the womb.
“When your unborn daughter gives you a middle finger from the womb you know you’re in for it #happymothersdaytome,” Perry teased in the caption of the sonogram clip posted May 11, a day after the holiday.

As the 35-year-old pop star’s interviews keep teasing more KP5 tracks before the Aug. 14 due date, she dished to Lebanese radio station NRJ Lebanon that one track comes to mind when she thinks about her daughter. “There is a song on the record called ‘What Makes a Woman,'” Perry said in the June 23-dated interview. “That is a hope I have for my future child, is that she doesn’t have any limits on any of her dreams, or what she wants to be, or who she thinks she is. And, you know, she can change whenever she wants. She doesn’t have to… she can try everything on if she wants; figure out what fits. And so I think that song is important to me and important for her.”

Perry was all smiles showing off her official album merch during her July 19-dated interview with the Australian radio program The Kyle and Jackie O Show. She completely bore her baby bump hanging out of her crop top, which she deliberated wearing because of her upcoming mommy duties.
“But I was looking at it and I was like, ‘It’s a crop top. Can I wear that? I’m going to be a mom.’ I was like, ‘F— it! I can still be young and fun and wear a crop top!'” she stated before standing up again to show off her tummy.
