Frieze Viewing Room to Feature for the First Time in Los Angeles

Frieze Viewing Room to Feature for the First Time in Los Angeles

Despite cancelling its Los Angeles art fair altogether, Frieze will still fill the void by bringing its Viewing Room to the City of Angels starting on July 27. Curated by Venus Lau, the fourth such installment sees 47 leading galleries, such as Blum & Poe and David Kordansky Gallery, exhibit in what has become an art scene that demands the worlds attention.

The event runs in concurrent to the first ever Gallery Weekend Los Angeles, and the Felix art fair at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Additionally, Frieze’ Los Angeles Viewing Room will be the first to dedicate an entire section to digital art — with commissions by artists such as Liu Chuang, Nik Kosmas, Peng Ke, aaajiao and Lu Yang. Each artwork will be available to purchase as an NFT and delivered via RNDR — a new blockchain and 3D marketplace developed by LA-based company, OTOY.

“Digital and virtual existence is more than what appears on a screen, it is no longer opposed to the real, instead it is a part of, or an anamorphosis, of reality. Artists aaajiao, Nik Kosmas, Liu Chuang, Lu Yang and Peng Ke rethink the mechanisms of digital existence in the artworks presented in the digital section of Frieze Los Angeles 2021,” said Lau.

Registrations for the viewing room are now open.

Elsewhere in Los Angeles, the “Immersive Van Gogh Exhibition” will adorn the walls of the former Amoeba store.
