Fred again.. is closing out his monumental year – complete with performances at Coachella, Glastonbury, and NPR‘s Tiny Desk, to name a few – with one of his highly anticipated releases. After teasing the track at a handful of sets throughout the year, Fred again.. finally dropped off “leavemealone”, on which he taps Baby Keem‘s bars to create an electric, high-energy listening experience.
Keem samples include the track “South Africa” from his debut studio album The Melodic Blue and “Bullies” lifted from his 2019 mixtape, Die For My B*tch.
“I f*ckin love keem. Obviously. Ever since sonny first played me his music years ago. Hangin out wit him recently has been a real treat n I feel like this tune is jus the beginning,” Fred again.. shared in an Instagram caption. He also shared the below video which shows a glimpse at the sampling process.
As for Keem’s 2023, he’s been pretty low-key this year, surprise dropping off “The Hillbillies” with cousin Kendrick Lamar over the summer and, just recently, unveiling the visuals for The Melodic Blue – which came complete with three new songs: “White Laces” with James Blake, “Rock Me,” and “Torch.”
“leavemealone” is now streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.
