Coachella has announced a new pop-up record store for its festival this year dubbed Record Safari. The fully air-conditioned on-site space is said to house over 25,000 new and used records.
In the announcement video, the team teases a number of highly-coveted records across a wide spectrum of genres and eras including Heaven to a Tortured Mind by Yves Tumor, Titanic Rising by Weyes Blood, Post by Björk, 99.9% by Kaytranada, Parallel Lines by Blondie, and Demon Days by Gorillaz. However, what stood out most to fans was the appearance of Frank Ocean‘s Black Friday Edition Blonde vinyl.
The ultra-rare vinyl was available for just 24 hours on November 25 via Frank Ocean’s temporary Boys Don’t Cry website. Currently selling for upwards of $1000 USD on secondary markets, initial releases were said to include a Black Friday sticker on the shrinkwrap and a gatefold sleeve. Tracks on the album include all-time classics such as “Close to You,” “White Ferrari,” and Seigfried.”
Coachella’s Record Safari is expected to run across both weekends from April 14 to 23.
