The popular Coachella Music Festival will be returning to Indio, CA come April 2022, but there’s one artist that will be absent from the lineup: Frank Ocean. However, for die-hard fans of the the Neo Soul artist, don’t fret as it’s been confirmed by Coachella co-founder Paul Tollett that he’ll be slotted to headline the festival in 2023.
“Right now, it’s the Wild West,” Tollett tells the LA Times in an interview. “I’m just trying to be as fair as I can to artists and to the fans to make sure that eventually they get to see everyone that we talked about.”
Ocean was originally booked to perform at Coachella 2020 alongside Travis Scott and Rage Against the Machine — both of which have been confirmed to be on the bill for Coachella 2022 — but given that the pandemic was far from over, the event was forced into cancellation.
The Blonde crooner last played the SoCal festival back in 2012 and music fans have been dying to see him return to the Indio stage. In 2017, Ocean went on a string of Summer shows by taking his talents to festivals such as FYF, Panorama and Way Out West, so it was only going to be a matter of time before he showed face again at arguably the biggest festival in the world.
Elsewhere in music news, five new Pop Smoke songs have been added to ‘Faith’ Deluxe.
