‘Foundation’ Trailer Unveils Apple’s TV Adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s Sci-Fi Trilogy

Apple TV+ dropped off the trailer for its upcoming series adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s Foundation.

After publishing his initial works as short stories in the 1940s, Asimov converted his writings into a trilogy in the following decade, before continuing his stories with both prequels and sequels in 1981. Now, helmed by showrunner David S. Goyer (Batman Begins)Foundation will have a new lease on life as a 10-episode sci-fi series.

The official synopsis reads: “When revolutionary Dr. Hari Seldon (Jared Harris) predicts the impending fall of the Empire, he and a band of loyal followers venture to the far reaches of the galaxy to establish The Foundation in an attempt to rebuild and preserve the future of civilization. Enraged by Hari’s claims, the ruling Cleons (led by Lee Pace) — a long line of emperor clones — fear their unrivaled reign may be weakening as they’re forced to reckon with the potential reality of losing their powerful legacy forever.”

“The Empire won’t like the future I predict,” Dr. Seldon states in the trailer above. “Change is frightening, especially to those in power.”

Additional cast members include Lou Llobell, Leah Harvey, Cassian Bilton, Laura Birn and Alfred Enoch. Goyer claims executive producing credits, alongside Robyn Asimov, Josh Friedman, Cameron Welsh, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Bill Bost.

Foundation will premiere on Friday, September 24, with its first two episodes, before airing new episodes weekly until November 19.

Elsewhere, Eternals has dropped a mythical final trailer ahead of its November release.
