‘Fortnite’ Partners With Universal Pictures on New ‘Shortnitemares’ Miniseries

‘Fortnite’ Partners With Universal Pictures on New ‘Shortnitemares’ Miniseries

Universal Pictures has partnered with Epic GamesFornite to bring its classic film monsters into the world of video games.

The film studio joined forces with the gaming platform to create an original, animated short-form miniseries, dubbed We Will Be Monsters, that features contemporary versions of old-time characters including the Bride of Frankenstein, Dracula and the Mummy. Aside from each character’s modernized appearance, the series marks the first time that most of the famous monsters are multiethnic.

The series will run for four episodes with a staggered launch, meaning viewers will have to wait for each subsequent episode to be released after the initial debut. We Will Be Monsters will premiere within Fornite on October 28 as part of Shornitemares, an in-game horror film festival that will include seven animated shorts from across the globe.

The first episode sheds new light on the Bride of Frankenstein and Dracula; and following its premiere, the former monster will be made available in the Item Shop as a skin. The remaining episodes, which will also arrive with new skins, will be released early next year.

The series, directed by Rick Famuyiwa, who helmed several episodes of Disney‘s The Mandalorian, stars Chemon Theys as the Bride, Victory Ndukwe as Frankenstein’s Monster and Emmy Saheki as the Mummy, among several others.

Elsewhere, Call of Duty: Vanguard has tapped a real war photojournalist for a set of limited-edition prints.
