Formula 1 Unveils Las Vegas Night Circuit for 2023

Formula 1 has officially announced the Las Vegas Prix for 2023. The race makes its return to Sin City for the first time since 1982, featuring a new night circuit held along the bright lights of the Las Vegas strip.

The track layout reveals just 14 turns and three main straights with a 2km stretch running down the central Vegas strip. “Average speeds around the track are set to be comparable to Formula 1’s original Temple of Speed – Italy’s Autodromo Nazionale Monza,” Formula wrote in an announcement. Drivers will make their way past the city’s landmarks including Caesars Palace, the Bellagio, and the Venetian, as they battle for position around the 12-15m wide streets. The end of the main stretch will see the best overtaking opportunity, as drivers brake hard into a left-hander, while a 180-degree corner at turn 1 may prove the biggest challenge.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix will take place on Thanksgiving weekend of 2023, joining two other races taking place in the U.S. including a legacy race in Austin and another race set to debut in Miami this May.

Elsewhere in sports, UFC 275 heads to Singapore.
