Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey Takes Blame for Mass Layoffs

As the future of Twitter remains unknown following mass layoffs at the hands of new CEO Elon Musk, Co-Founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey is now shouldering the blame for the current situation. Taking to the social media platform, Dorsey tweeted out a message to the public and staff of Twitter apologizing for the state of the company.

“Folks at Twitter past and present are strong and resilient. They will always find a way no matter how difficult the moment. I realize many are angry with me. I own the responsibility for why everyone is in this situation: I grew the company size too quickly. I apologize for that,” tweeted Jack Dorsey. The former CEO went on to write, “I am grateful for, and love, everyone who has ever worked on Twitter. I don’t expect that to be mutual in this moment…or ever…and I understand.”

The thread serves as Dorsey’s first statement since Elon Musk closed his $44 billion USD purchase of Twitter and comes as reports note that he is now “hated at Twitter.” The reports outline how employees are unhappy with him supporting Musk’s acquisition of the company and layoff plan that saw 50 percent of employees let go.
