Ford Officially Dubs the Mustang GTD Its Most Powerful Mustang Yet

Ford has officially revealed final performance stats for the all-new 2025 Mustang GTD, the most powerful production Mustang in the brand’s storied history. Packing a potent 815 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque from its supercharged 5.2L V8 engine, the Mustang GTD sets a new benchmark for the iconic muscle car. It boasts a top speed of 202 mph, making it the fastest street-legal Mustang to date.

With its sights set on a sub-seven-minute Nürburgring lap time, the GTD features cutting-edge active aerodynamics, including a Drag Reduction System that adjusts the rear wing and front flaps to optimize airflow for speed and downforce. Additionally, its carbon-ceramic brakes and inboard-rear suspension with semi-active dampers ensure precise handling.

“We’ve been laser-focused from day one to create a supercar with world-class performance and the soul of a Mustang,” said Greg Goodall, Mustang GTD Chief Program Engineer. “The GTD’s heart is its 5.2-liter V8, delivering more horsepower per liter than the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.”

The new dry-sump oil system allows the engine to handle intense cornering while increasing its maximum speed to 7,650 rpm, 100 rpm higher than previous versions. A smaller supercharger pulley and refined intake and exhaust systems, including a standard titanium exhaust, contribute to the Mustang GTD’s unprecedented power output.

While the GTD marks Ford’s first-ever attempt at a Mustang supercar, it also represents the most expensive Mustang to enter production, with prices expected to start at $325,000 and production said to be limited to approximately 1,000 units.
