Fontaines D.C. “couldn’t give a sh*t” about Oasis reunion, Liam Gallagher fires back

Fontaines D.C. "couldn't give a sh*t" about Oasis reunion, Liam Gallagher fires back

Oasis officially announced their long-awaited reunion in August, and ever since, it seems as if every bloke this side of Manchester has caught Oasis fever — everyone, that is, except for select members of Fontaines D.C., who expressed disinterest in the whole affair.

In an interview with Studio Brussel, Fontaines D.C. members Carlos O’Connell and Conor Deegan III admitted they were less than enthused about Oasis’ return. When asked about their excitement level surrounding the Britpop band’s “Oasis Live ’25” comeback tour, O’Connell retorted by saying, “I couldn’t really give a shit, to be honest.”

“I’m not excited about it, either, to be honest,” Deegan added. “I feel like we get caught in the last era — like the ’10s — and into such a nostalgic thing that we’re forgetting to make new things.”

The two went on to describe how they sought to look forward with their art while creating their recently released and acclaimed new album Romance. “I feel like what we were wanting to do with this record anyway was to look into the future and make new things,” Deegan continued. “So for Oasis to reform at this moment for us is really annoying.”

In typical Liam Gallagher fashion, he humbly took the comments in stride, held no ill will, and wished Irish band good luck immediately fired back on Twitter.

“Fuck them little spunkbubbles I’ve seen better dressed ROADIES,” he wrote in one tweet. “They look like a shit EMF,” read another.

The question that prompted the comments likely came from speculation over who will open for Oasis on the “Oasis Live ’25” tour, with many fans throwing Fontaines D.C.’s name out for consideration, especially for the Irish dates. While Fontaines D.C. meet Gallagher’s conditions for supporting Oasis, the recent remarks seem to hint that they’ll likely be left off the bill.

Not everyone is looking back in anger, however. In a comment on an NME Instagram post, Fontaines D.C. frontman Grian Chatten clarified his position. “I love Oasis,” he wrote. “This is not my opinion.” Similarly, Fontaines D.C. are apparently Gallagher’s son Gene’s favorite band.

Ticket demand for the “Oasis Live ’25” tour was expectantly extremely high, leading to an “Eras Tour”-level fiasco. Many fans were angered at Ticketmaster’s “dynamic pricing,” and reports of technical issues and bots only led to further frustration.

It was so chaotic that the UK government launched an investigation into “issues around the transparency and use of dynamic pricing.” In response, Oasis announced two extra London shows with an invite-only ballet ticket sale strategy.

For their part, Fontaines D.C. are set to launch a North American tour on September 20th in Seattle. See the full itinerary here, and get tickets to one of Fontaines D.C’s upcoming concerts here.
