Floyd Mayweather Stops Mikuru Asakura in Second Round of SUPER RIZIN Exhibition Fight

Floyd Mayweather Stops Mikuru Asakura in Second Round of SUPER RIZIN Exhibition Fight

It was an upset for another Japanese mixed martial artist as Floyd Mayweather showed once again that at 45 years of age he’s still got it. Announced back in June, the SUPER RIZIN fight saw Floyd Mayweather take on MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura in an exhibition boxing match in Japan’s Saitama Super Arena.

While the first round looked competitive as Mikuru Asakura hunted for the body, landing a powerful body shot on Mayweather, his eagerness opened him up for a counter left followed by a powerful straight right that dropped him. The referee eventually called the fight and awarded Mayweather the KO victory — and Asakura’s first KO loss. Asakura was just too slow for Mayweather as he looked put Money Mayweather away with hard shots. Mayweather on the other hand, stuck to his signature style of picking shots, superior movement, and defense. Surprisingly, Mayweather did eat some hard punches but was unfazed and simply smiled back at Asakura.

“I’m just happy to be here, thanks again. I’m happy that we were able to give the fans excitement tonight. Thanks for having me. I’ll be back,” said Mayweather in his victory interview. Boxing fans will also not want to miss the clip of Manny Pacquiao making an appearance in the ring post-fight. Check out some of the highlights below.
