Kelley later recalled a conversation he had with Hubbard in September about creating and exploring “freedom for ourselves in addition to what we do with FGL” and supporting each other as they navigate their separate musical journeys. Kelley hinted that his solo releases, which Hubbard has already listened to and said “sounded amazing,” could be out by summer 2021.
“Like BK said, timing’s everything and we’ve been on a 10-year journey together. We wouldn’t change it for the world. And we’re gonna continue our journey,” Hubbard responded. “We’ve kind of created this freedom around ourselves to where we can do whatever we want to do creatively and musically, so it’s a lot of fun…. It’s a beautiful place to be, like BK said, to be able to venture out and have a voice of our own and have an individuality a little bit. We’ve always been a package deal.”
The duo clarified that they’re not breaking up and still plan to tour together in the new year once it’s safe to do so. A source told Billboard in November that there was “no truth” to rumors that Hubbard and Kelley were going their separate ways after the two unfollowed each other on social media.
FGL will release their fifth studio album, Life Rolls On, on Feb. 12, which fans can pre-order here.
