Public Enemy rapper Flavor Flav was arrested earlier this month in Henderson, Nevada. The alleged incident occurred on the evening of October 4, a representative from the Henderson public information confirms to SPIN. Flav was arrested on October 5 and was charged with one count of Domestic Battery.
First reported by TMZ, Flav allegedly “poked his finger on the alleged victim’s nose, grabbed her, threw her down, and grabbed a phone out of her hand.”
In a request for comment, David Chesnoff, Flavor Flav’s attorney, told SPIN that “In alleged domestic violence cases, there are often two sides to the story, and we will explain our side in the courtroom and not in the media.”
Flav is due back in court on October 25.
On Monday evening, the 62-year-old rapper tweeted that he was celebrating his one-year sobriety anniversary.

Last year, Flav and Chuck D got into a spat over the use of the Public Enemy name following the group’s performance (without Flav) as Public Enemy Radio at a rally for Bernie Sanders in Los Angeles. Bygones were bygones as Public Enemy ended up releasing new music with Flav involved. Chuck D spoke with us about that and Flav’s involvement in the project.
