Following a performance of the track during her take over of NPR’s popular Tiny Desk (Home) Concert series earlier this month, FKA twigs has officially delivered her latest single “Killer.” The Cheltenham-born artist wrote the track alongside Jimmy Napes, Amanda Ghost and Jonny Coffer, with production from Coffer and El Guincho.
“‘It’s dangerous to be a woman in love’ – when at its worst the effects of heartbreak can define one’s trajectory much more than the beauty of the love itself, in my song ‘Killer’ I explore this concept,” FKA twigs said of the new track in a statement. “The navigation, the hunt and the kill. The death of promises, dreams and the future that was once promised. But like the wildest plucked roses, I find myself more beautiful delicately wilted, in shadow, forced solace, darkened at the edges and achingly thirsting to be tended to again.”
“Killer” follows twigs’ latest mixtape Caprisongs, which was released in January of this year. That record boasts 17 tracks and includes features from The Weeknd, Jorja Smith, Daniel Caesar, Shygirl, Rema, Pa Salieu, Koreless, Tobias Jesso Jr., Fred again.., Mike Dean, Warren Ellis and more.
Meanwhile, FKA twigs is gearing up to star alongside Bill Skarsgård in The Crow, based on James O’Barr’s graphic novel, later this year.
