FinCen files: Corruption is another name for Atiku Abubakar, PDP – BMO

Findings by a team of international journalists on a United States of America’s agency files is an indication that corruption allegation won’t stop haunting former Vice-president Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to the Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) in a statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Madueke, it is alarming that a man who aspired to lead Nigeria is always mentioned in suspicious financial activities.

“It is instructive that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s name featured in a new investigation by an international consortium of journalists and media groups on suspicious transactions within the international financial system.

“This is not the first time the former PDP Presidential candidate would be linked to allegations of financial malfeasances and investigations in international jurisdictions, but it is worrisome that someone who aspired to lead Nigeria would constantly be mentioned in investigations into unwholesome acts.

“It is a major embarrassment that Nigeria’s former Vice President is the subject of yet another investigation into suspicious transactions.

“We see this as an affirmation of what Atiku’s former principal, former President Olusegun Obasanjo said about him in one of his books, and like all Nigerians, we wonder why his name is always mentioned in suspicious financial activities”, the group added.

BMO noted that unlike Atiku and several PDP leaders, there is no way that President Buhari’s name would be mentioned in unwholesome financial acts, locally or internationally.

“We know that if the President’s name had been mentioned in that report, PDP or its leading lights would have made a meal of it but now none of them has said a word since the story broke.

“For us, the former ruling party is a community of tainted politicians who have not been able to purge themselves of corruption allegation in their 16-year hold on power at the centre, yet they had the audacity of using ‘Let’s make Nigeria great again’ as a campaign slogan.

“We are indeed lucky to have a President in place who can never be mentioned in an international investigation or probe into suspicious financial dealings and this Nigerians will always be proud of”, the statement added.

It also reassured Nigerians that President Buhari would always be above board in his dealings.
