Netflix has delivered the final trailer of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s MONSTERS: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story ahead of its premiere on September 19.
The nearly three-minute teaser dives into the dynamic of the Menendez family, starting off with the volatile and allegedly sexually, physically and emotionally abusive relationship that Lyle and Erik had with their father, José. The brothers’ mother, Kitty, can also be seen verbalizing her disdain for the two as she tells them that she “regret[s]” having them.
Leading the main cast are Javier Bardem as José, Chloë Sevigny as Kitty, Cooper Koch as Erik, Nicholas Alexander Chavez as Lyle, Nathan Lane as Dominick Dunne and Ari Graynor as Leslie Abramson.
The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is based on the true story of the Menendez brothers who were convicted in 1996 for the murder of their parents. The prosecution accused Lyle and Erik of killing their parents for their inheritance, however the brothers have always alleged that they committed the crime after experiencing a lifetime of physical, emotional and sexual abuse from their parents. They are currently serving life sentences without the possibility of parole.
