With the new season of Formula 1 just around the corner, Ferrari has now unveiled its contender for 2022: the F1-75.
Featured in the gallery above, the new car takes on a classic, flat Ferrari red livery with black accents by the front and rear wings as well as the floor of the vehicle and the fin of the engine cover. Most notably, the sidepods and cooling slats carry a rather unique design that differentiates the Mugello racer from the rest of the grid — or at least the seven teams that have unveiled their cars so far. While it takes on a wider body like Aston Martin‘s design, the top of the side pod dips down in the middle and actually rises back up near the rear when it connects with the engine cover. Of course, we’ll only know exactly how well these vastly different F1 cars will perform once they hit the tracks during pre-season testing, but the diversity in design philosophies is still something to celebrate for now.
“Yes, I’m more than ready for this season,” said Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz. “2021 was a great year for me because I managed to learn how the team works on the inside, to adapt to a new environment, but also mainly to learn about the Ferrari brand and how everything works from here and it was a great experience for me. Now it’s time to take the team to a different level, take it to a different step, and as drivers and the team together we want more things and more success in 2022 – so let’s go and get it.”
“I really, really like it. I think I’ll love it even more if it’s fast on track but I absolutely love the look,” added teammate Charles Leclerc. “I think it fits perfectly. It’s a bit of a darker red. It looks a bit more aggressive but for a car like this, I think it fits perfectly.”
