Ferrari has revealed its latest high-performance vehicle, the F80, a limited-edition supercar. With only 799 units to be produced, the F80 is positioned to join Ferrari’s legendary lineup, alongside icons like the GTO and LaFerrari.
The F80 features an advanced V6-hybrid powertrain that delivers 1200 hp, making it the most powerful road car Ferrari has ever built. The car’s engine, a 3L V6 coupled with hybrid technology, draws inspiration from Ferrari’s motorsport triumphs, including the architecture of the 499P, the endurance racer that won consecutive 24 Hours of Le Mans races. This hybrid setup aims to provide increased power by utilizing e-turbo technology for instant acceleration response.
Ferrari’s engineering prowess is evident in the F80’s design, with aerodynamics playing a central role. An active rear wing, advanced rear diffuser and front S-Duct are among the key elements contributing to the car’s 2200 lbs of downforce at 155 mph. The F80 also boasts active suspension to optimize ground effect, ensuring superior track performance while maintaining road usability.
Despite its race-focused design, the F80 is said to offer a more comfortable and driver-centric experience compared to other supercars. The cockpit, inspired by Formula 1, follows a 1+ seating layout that prioritizes the driver but allows space for a passenger without compromising performance. As a result of its hybrid powertrain, the F80 is able to hit a top speed of 217 mph and acceleration from 0-60 in 2.15 seconds. At the time of writing, details on pricing and availability have not yet been shared.
