Fashion People Swear By Khaite’s Jeans—Now I Know Why

In today’s fashion landscape, it seems like everyone who is anyone is stepping out wearing Khaite’s classic and not-so-basic pieces—and it makes sense. From the coveted Simona bag to the elegant Benny belt and the celeb-loved Scarlet sweater, each item exudes an unmistakable aura of luxury that elevates any outfit. This allure has even prompted other brands to attempt to replicate Khaite’s unique essence, however, no one has captured the magic of its collections, especially its denim line.

Khaite’s jeans are not just garments; they represent the cornerstone of the brand’s elegant and effortless identity. The brand takes immense pride in its denim craftsmanship, and it shows in the glowing reviews that consistently highlight the exceptional quality of its products. They’re crafted from premium materials, such as Italian denim, and each pair is meticulously tailored to achieve a stunning signature silhouette and refined fit. A standout feature is the striking detail of a glossy enameled black button framed by a golden antiqued brass rim, which offers a tasteful nod to retro aesthetics while simultaneously providing a form of understated branding—an “if you know, you know” vibe—that resonates with fashion people.

Moreover, Khaite often releases smaller collections in limited quantities, enhancing the exclusivity surrounding the brand and driving a genuine demand among fashion enthusiasts. Despite the high price point attributed to the brand’s denim jeans, the desire to own a set of Khaite jeans continues to increase.

Since Khaite launched its denim in 2016, I have learned much about its jeans through articles, YouTube videos, and TikToks. That being said, I never had the opportunity to try them on. So, I decided it was time to carve out some time in my busy schedule and visit Khaite’s flagship store in NYC to see, feel, and review the brand’s top four styles. Keep reading to find answers to everyone’s pressing questions about Khaite jeans and discover why they are truly a step above the rest.

Khaite Danielle Jeans

My review: The viral and often sold-out Danielle jeans have gained immense popularity, with over 14 million posts on TikTok alone dedicated to reviewing and trying them on. When thinking of Khaite jeans, this is the pair that comes to mind. They are described as high-rise stovepipe jeans, which are slightly wider at the ankle than skinny jeans. With all the buzz surrounding this pair, I was excited to try them on.

When I visited Khaite’s flagship store, the sales associate, T, informed me that each wash fits differently. Initially, this was a bit frustrating because I would have to try on multiple pairs. However, T explained that “going up or down a size is just the beauty of the denim.”

I tried on the Archer wash, which features the brand’s “stretch” material—a blend of high denim and low elastane content, unlike a 100% cotton composition. T advised me to stick with my usual size, which is a 25. Although they felt a tad tighter than I usually prefer, they were so flattering on my waist, hips, legs, and butt that it didn’t bother me. T reassured me that since these were the stretch version, they would give slightly more with wear.

Design-wise, the Danielle jeans have a high-rise cut that sits below my ribcage, a slight boot-cut hem, and back pockets positioned high on the backside, creating a lifted effect. Despite having short legs, these jeans gave the surprising illusion of elongation. The pants feel more elevated than others I’ve tried or seen, making them perfect for evening wear.

These jeans live up to the hype due to their fit and the beautiful black button that elevates them. Now, as a 5’1″ woman, they puddled on the floor a bit too much for me. I (and others shorter than 5’7″) would need to have them hemmed. The good news is that Khaite offers complimentary hemming services if you purchase directly from the brand.

Size range: 23–32

Washes: 8

Inseam: 33″

Sizing tip: Size up in all the washes except the Prescott.

Khaite Abigail Jeans

My review: People often compare the Abigail jeans to the Danielle jeans, so let’s break down the main differences. There are two key factors: the rise and the hem. While both styles are high-waisted, the Abigail is not as high as the Danielle, which makes them feel more comfortable to wear. The waistband hit right at my belly button, and the length was just below my ankles.

Both styles feature high back pockets that enhance the lift of the butt, and they are available in both stretch and non-stretch options. The stretch version comes in two washes: Bryce, a light blue wash, and Boone, a medium blue. The non-stretch option is available in Montgomery, the most popular wash for Khaite; Prescott, a beautiful black; and Archer, a mid-wash distressed blue.

Regardless of the wash, this style is perfect for everyday wear and can easily be dressed up with a fitted blazer and heels or down with a crewneck sweater and flats. For sizing, I recommend taking your regular size for the stretch style and going up for the non-stretch option.

Size range: 23–32

Washes: 6

Inseam: 28 1/2″

Sizing tip: For the stretch style, take your regular size, and for the non-stretch, go up a size.

Khaite Shalbi Jeans

My review: Khaite has thoughtfully designed its denim line to cater to a diverse range of body types, specifically considering individuals with long torsos and shorter legs through the creation of the Shalbi jeans. This style features an ultra high-rise fit that sits even higher than the popular Danielle jeans, with a hem that grazes at the ankle, offering a chic silhouette.

The Shalbi jeans are expertly tailored to be fitted at the waist, providing a snug and supportive feel. They elegantly relax as you move down through the hip and thigh area, allowing for more room before gently tapering at the ankles. A standout characteristic of these jeans is their thick waistband and robust belt loops. This makes them versatile for a variety of belt styles—whether thin or wide—and adds a striking visual element that contributes to their fashionable appeal, even when worn without a belt.

Due to the high waist design, consider sizing up from your usual size for optimal comfort. Additionally, if you have longer legs, be aware that the Shalbi jeans may fit more like cropped denim.

Size range: 23–32

Washes: 2

Inseam: 28″

Sizing tip: Size up.

Khaite Kerrie Jeans

My review: I didn’t know what to expect before trying the Kerrie jeans, as I had never heard anything about them, however, the sales associate persuaded me to give them a chance, and I’m so glad she did.

These jeans are marketed as mid-rise, but they felt low-waisted to me as they sat below my belly button. They have a wide-leg, almost barrel shape that gives a baggy fit, which I loved the relaxed look of. I tried on the Fargo wash, which has a frayed hem. Usually, I’m not a fan of frayed hems because I think they’re “dated,” but I ended up liking them. While this pair wouldn’t be my first choice, they put other low-rise jeans I’ve tried on to shame.

Size range: 24–32

Washes: The stretch comes in four washes, and the non-stretch comes in three washes.

Inseam: 29″

Sizing tip: Size up.
