Melding their voices on the chorus, the pair lament a star-crossed relationship. “These minefields that I walk through/ What I risk to be close to you/ These minefields keeping me from you/ What I risk to be close to you/ Close to you,” they belt out in warbling harmony.
Ahead of the track’s release, the Canadian-Moroccan singer shared her excitement at fans finally hearing the duet, which also features Charlie Puth on the piano. “I’m so nervous, i hope you all like it,” she tweeted.
Co-written by Faouzia with Sam Martin, Ali Tamposi and J Kash, “Minefields” serves as a follow-up to Faouzia’s debut EP, Stripped, which dropped in August and features acoustic versions of her previously-released singles like “Tears of Gold” and “How It All Works Out.”
