Explore African and Caribbean Culture at International Festival of Life, July 1-4

The 30th annual International Festival of Life kicks off July 1 in Washington Park. The four-day festival celebrates African and Caribbean art, cuisine, dance and music.

Event organizer Ephraim Martin said the event will be a “grand celebration” to bring the community together, with 50 musical acts including Rich Homie Quan, Heatwave and Capleton and the Prophecy Band. This year, the event is merged with the Jerk, Seafood and Vegan Festival, with food vendors offering Caribbean and African dishes like jerk chicken, Jamaican beef patties, jollof rice and tropical drinks.

“It will be just a moment, an African Caribbean art where you really have a good time,” Martin said. “This is where we all bring nations together to celebrate as one people.”

Tickets are available at internationalfestivaloflife.com.
