Ex-Butcher Babies singer Carla Harvey joins Lords of Acid as new vocalist

Ex-Butcher Babies singer Carla Harvey joins Lords of Acid as new vocalist

Former Butcher Babies singer Carla Harvey is joining Lords of Acid as the band’s new vocalist. She will record a new album with the veteran industrial-dance act this winter, and then embark on a yet-to-be-announced US tour with the band in June.

Even though Harvey recently announced her own new band The Violent Hour, who are set to release their debut single in February, she couldn’t pass up the chance to become a member of one her favorite music acts.

Harvey expressed her excitement in joining Lords of Acid in the following statement (via Blabbermouth):

“I had three favorite bands in high school: Guns N’ Roses, Pantera and Lords of Acid. Each one shaped me and uniquely influenced me as an artist. LOA had me hooked from the moment I heard ‘I Sit on Acid’ as a teenager dancing the night away at Detroit’s goth Industrial Haven City Club. My obsession with LOA only grew after I saw Coop’s artwork on the cover of Voodoo-U. Now I get to record an album and go on tour with my industrial heroes! Pinch 16-year-old me! She’ll be the one in the vocal booth. While my new band The Violent Hour is set to release its first single in February, I’m adding a bucket list item to my resume: Reigning ‘Acid Queen’. Praise the Lords!”

Lords of Acid’s manager Marc Jordan confirmed Harvey’s role in the band, saying, “Carla is set to begin recording vocals for the band’s new album this winter and will be joining the band on a 27-date U.S. tour in June.”

The current Lords of Acid lineup includes original members Praga Khan and Olivier Adams. Over the years, Lords of Acid have had a handful of different female lead singers. Sadly, Ruth McCardle, who contributed vocals to the aforementioned 1994 album, Voodoo-U, passed away last month.

Voodoo-U ranked No. 19 on Consequence‘s list of the 50 Best Industrial Albums of All Time, while “I Sit on Acid” landed at No. 22 on our list of the 50 Best Industrial Songs of All Time.

Harvey was a member of Butcher Babies for 15 years, fronting the band alongside co-vocalist Heidi Shepherd. She left the metal act in July of last year, citing her desire to explore other opportunities.

It was a very eventful 2024 for Harvey, as she also became engaged to Anthrax/Pantera drummer Charlie Benante at the beginning of the year.
