Everton are thought to be keen on signing the Atletico Mineiro defender Guilherme Arana this summer.
According to a report from Torcedores, the Premier League side are currently scouting the 24-year-old defender at the Olympics. Arana has been a part of Brazil’s squad for the Olympics this summer.
Apparently, the player caught the attention of Everton with his performances last season.
The Toffees could definitely use more depth in the left-back position and the Brazilian could be a quality backup option to Lucas Digne.
The Frenchman has been excellent since his move to Everton but he needs more support and Arana could prove to be a smart investment for the Merseyside outfit.
A potential move to the Premier League could be a tempting proposition for Arana.
Apparently, Atletico Mineiro have inserted a release clause of around €40 million in the 24-year-old’s contract and they are unwilling to let him leave on a bargain.
Arana is relatively unproven at the highest level and it seems highly unlikely that Everton will agree to pay €40 million for his services in the coming months.
The Brazilian outfit will have to lower their demands in order for the transfer to go through this summer.
It remains to be seen whether the Toffees are willing to follow up on their interest with a concrete offer for the player in the coming weeks.
